This book is very helpful when you want to learn how to code an optimized query. Some of the databases I handle have millions of rows and this book helped me understand how to develop an efficient update and insert queries. I haven't read the entire book yet and I'm already happy with my purchase. Thanks!

I'm a SQL Server Database Engineer. I'm working on a project right now that has over 4 BILLION rows in it.The smallest mistake in a query costs us hours.This book has been a godsend. Saved us days of our time, and probably years of compute time.

In my opinion this is the best book on performance since Ken England's Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Performance Optimization and Tuning Handbook which was published in 2001. Benjamin Nevarez is clear and comprehensive. Chapter 6 on Statistics is very detailed and covers the new cardinality estimator of SQL 2014.Perhaps the best indicator of a book is how applicable the book is to our immediate work, and here the book came just in time to help me solve a problem. There was a discrepancy between the estimated and actual number of rows and I had just read that sometimes it is necessary to do an update statistics with FULLSCAN, which I did and a new recommended index popped up in green. The breaking down complex queries section and the reference to Steve Howard's paper "When to Break Down Complex Queries" resolved the problem.I have little doubt that Query Tuning & Optimization will become indispensable.

This my daily reference in the process of getting better at performances tunning it is a great book.

The book is full of great information. I have been able to use the information from the first 4 chapters already. The information gleamed from the book will definitely help my organization produce better optimized queries.

This book will be useful for everyone who needs to write queries on SQL Server and wants to know how to start with query tuning and optimization. It is also a great set of reference material on deeper technical subjects, such as the optimizer, query plans, and statistics. Especially the chapter on statistics is very valuable, as it really explains in detail how statistics are calculated and how the optimizer sometimes takes bad guesses. Even the seasoned T-SQL developer will probably find something useful in this book. I am a business intelligence developer, who needs to write SQL queries for reports but also a lot of SQL for ETL, I learned a lot from this book even though I was already well versed in T-SQL and the mechanics of SQL Server. Wow, real opener. Dan made me realize what I was doing wrong and more importantly how to fix it. Last year I kind of felt proud of myself as I hired a â€œcopywriterâ€ for one of my landing pages and I was convinced she was doing a good job (after all she had a master and what not..) Well, she was a good writer and editor but not a good copywriter. So to sum up- my old copy sucked. I just followed a few strategies I picked up from this book and re-wrote a few things myself and wow. Better conversions. I am really excited for what is yet to come as I am not 100% finished with my copy. Plusâ€¦even if I hire a freelance copywriter, thanks to Danâ€™s t teachings I will know whether they do a good job or not. Some food for thought. I purchased this book after a recommendation from a colleague. I had my suspicions that this book might not be for me based off of the "clickbait" title that is has, similar to a YouTube video that will say anything in the title for views. I was initially going to give this book a 1 star as there wasn't much content for someone who is experienced in sales and marketing, but I decided to give it a 2 instead because a lot of the information was still good, just nothing that you wouldn't hear from any other sales book. The author keeps talking about websites in almost all of his "forbidden" tactics like this book was specifically meant to teach about internet marketing. I actually took another look at the book description to make sure that I didn't look over the fact that this was meant for web marketing but it was not. In short this book has some decent advice for people that are VERY green in sales and marketing, but if you are a veteran of the craft, this book will offer nothing but snake oil and a guy talking about himself for 3 hours.

I really enjoyed the concrete advice given in this book that can be implemented right away. Having been in sales for almost 20 years this book brought home alot of my experience and reinforced what we live thru daily in saling. Loved reading it and applying the tatics. The book gave me the confidence and conviction that was resting domant in me.

Although I've been in sales for over forty years, it's always good to be reminded of the basics. This book is an easy, short read with information that sticks! I highly recommend it!

My first book on Tamil Cinema, ‘THE BEST OF TAMIL CINEMA: 1931 to 2010’ released in 2011 as a tribute to the film makers who made remarkable films over the years, is the key motivator for me to write this second book.

While working on the revised and updated version of THE BEST OF TAMIL CINEMA, I chanced upon many Tamil films, which won National and International recognition and felt I can bring out a separate book on them, that can become a proud possession of film makers, researchers, people interested in films and common audience. I reviewed the entire list of films, which won the National Film Awards from Government of India and the films that were selected to be screened at the Indian Panorama of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) – considered as an honour to represent the country. As all these films were selected by an eminent jury over the years for both National Film Awards and Indian Panorama, I did not wish to judge and exclude any film based on my view on them and hence included each and every film, which won a National Film Award under any category and the films which were screened at Indian Panorama of IFFI, since the commencement of these awards and recognition in 1953. Along with this I have also included the films which were submitted by Film Federation of India (FFI) to represent the country at the Academy (Oscars) Awards over the years.

During the period 1954 to 2013, one hundred and sixty three (163) Tamil films have won the National recognition under various categories, and each of them is covered in detail in this book.

For the period 1931 to 1953 (pre-National award recognition years), I carefully selected 39 films, which are certainly Pride of Tamil Cinema, with the help of Tamil cinema chronicler, ‘Film News’ Anandan, to represent that period. Thus, this book has information on about 39 films for the period 1931 to 1953 and 163 films for the period 1954 to 2013 (total 202 films) to represent the entire period of Tamil Cinema. Extensive research was done to ensure that not a single film, which won a National or International recognition, is left out in this book.

Along with Feature films, I have also researched the Non-Feature films and Best Writing on Cinema, which won National Film Awards and written about them in a separate section. Details of non-feature films, which were screened at the Indian Panorama of IFFI, were also included in the non-feature films section. Thus, this book is an exhaustive compilation of Tamil films which won National and International recognition in all categories during the period 1953 to 2013.

At National Film Awards and Indian Panorama, the criterion is not commercial success of a film but aesthetic and technical excellence and hence without looking into whether the film was a commercial success or released in theatres, I went by the list of films, which won a National Film Award and, or screened at the Indian Panorama over the years and featured them in this book. Hence, you might find a few films, which you may not have even heard or seen, but have won a National Award for their excellence featuring in the book.

He didn't accept the gift. :-) Doesn't like advice from mom. No fault with the book.The best reason for using the book is over-controlling doctors who would balk at herbs or other alternative treatments have no problem with breathing and massage, which is what is taught in this book. It works for me.

Nice book...Not a lot of the garbage that you get in more recent books. After a couple of days trying out a few of the exercises you will feel the changes within you. Not like more recent books...now that every pinhead with a rehab cert is an automatic chi kung guru. I will definitely finish my set of Stephen T. Chang books as resources allow!!!
